Hulhumale is an artificial island covering an area of 227 Hectare and will be used as the new capital of Maldives. Based on the history and future needs, we come up with a sustainable planning framework aiming to achieve climate adaptation and livability, to solve sea level rise issue and to ease the burden of living. Combined with existing ecologic resources, the public service center and ecologic center, we provide attractive public space and livable environments such as parks, schools, municipal institutions and waterfront space. Historical sites such as the ancient mosque on Male will be gradually transferred to here to build a vibrant park integrating history, culture and leisure. Multiple economic forms, including restaurants, bars, family inn etc. can strengthen the connections between local natives and tourists, promote economic development, and improve employment of local residents.
