The 2010 World Expo has been held along the Huangpu River in Shanghai bringing new vitality and commercial opportunities. Huangpu District has attracted worldwide attention. Therefore, the transformation of old industrial district has been put on the agenda. Since there are some old industrial relics such as Shanghai Cement Factory and Old Shanghai South Railway Station in the planning area, we make the industrial relics into urban cultural landscape flexibly while retaining their original forms in our design. Through our renovation, the original wharf has become a fashionable fitness center with rock climbing facilities etc. We reorganize the urban functions while preserving its original atmosphere to achieve the integration between original urban landscape and public urban space, and change original industrial bases into the core areas for urban tourism to improve the value and utilization of urban lands.
